New Item Type: Extended Math Essay Response (#108)
We’re excited to introduce a brand-new item type: Extended Math Essay Response (#108).
This item type allows students to:
- Fully explain math answers using text, math expressions, and drawings in one space.
- Showcase open-ended responses that require both written reasoning and symbolic or visual representation.
- Support math practices that combine critical thinking, communication, and procedural fluency.
This tool is perfect for assignments that require deeper insight into students’ mathematical reasoning.
Teacher Reports Hub Enhancements
The Reports Hub has received improvements to make data analysis more powerful and user-friendly:
- School Year & Month Selectors: Teachers and admins can now filter data by school year and month, making longitudinal analysis easier.
- Archived Assignment Data: Data from archived assignments and distributions can now be pulled via Report Settings.
- Help Icon: A help icon now appears in Report Settings; hovering over it shows which fields are selected under Class, Student, and Assignment/Distribution.
These enhancements improve visibility and save time when navigating large data sets.
Assignment Creation Enhancements
We’ve made several improvements to streamline the assignment creation process for teachers:
- Clear All Standards Option: A one-click option has been added to the tag editor, allowing teachers to quickly remove all standards from an assignment when needed.
- Question Count on My Assignments Page: Teachers can now see the number of questions in an assignment directly on the My Assignments page, making it easier to plan and compare assignments.
- Faster Saving: Updates to the assignment editor reduce the time it takes to save, improving efficiency during assignment creation.
WCAG-Compliant Assignment Viewers
We are proud to announce that all assignment viewers are now fully WCAG compliant. This ensures students of all abilities have equitable access to assessments on Edcite. These updates align with international accessibility standards and reinforce our mission to provide a fair and inclusive digital testing experience for every student.
Reset Option for Settings
We’ve added a Reset button to Assignment Settings, Distribution Settings, and Student Group Settings:
- When a setting has been saved, teachers will now see a reset option below it.
- Resetting reverts the field back to its default value.
- A description of the currently saved value is displayed for clarity.
This update makes it easier to adjust settings confidently and quickly,
Line Matching Option for Multimedia Matching (#042)
A new option has been added to the Multimedia Matching (#042) item type: Line Matching.
Students can now connect items using lines, creating a more visual and interactive way to demonstrate understanding.
This option is especially useful for subjects like science, language, and history, where relationships between terms, concepts, or images need to be illustrated.
Password Validator for Stronger Security
To further protect teacher and student accounts, Edcite now includes a Password Validator. This feature:
- Provides real-time feedback when creating or resetting passwords.
- Ensures passwords meet predefined security rules.
- Helps safeguard sensitive data.
New Content
Our content team continues to expand the library with state-released tests and practice resources. Newly added collections include:
- Massachusetts: New practice tests added to the MCAS Practice Tests collection.
- Missouri: MAP Practice Forms (2021–2022).
- Kentucky: KSA Released Items (2022).

Training Center Updates
We’ve refreshed the Edcite Training Center to make professional learning easier and more role-specific:
- Fresh New Look: The Training Center has been refreshed with an updated design that highlights key training and PD resources.
- Updated Training Videos by Role: Videos are now organized by Main Admin Account, Sub-admin, Teacher, and Student, helping each group quickly find the support they need.
