Once they all began the assignment, the very first question I received was, “Ms. Gieg! How do I see the rest of the passage and the rest of the answer choices for this question?” In my case, students were using a touchpad mouse on a laptop. Thus, we went over how to scroll using two fingers. However, it will be important to teach basic scrolling even if using a traditional mouse with a scroll wheel to ensure all students feel confident in their scrolling ability.
After teaching basic scrolling, we then went over how to scroll up and down on the passage itself and how to scroll on the page as a whole.
| One important detail to note: Remember that some passage have a vertically split screen, while others have a horizontally split screen. Thus, you may need to teach this lesson twice depending on which assignment your students are taking. |
